Remembering

I can never remember

It’s a tragedy

Did I grab the keys?

Yes, they’re in my hands

Did we see that movie together?

You have no idea how many times

I get in trouble for that one

Did we eat there together?

That’ll be the end of me one day

It’s not the person or the meaning

It happens with all things across the board

I thought that was fair

My wife didn’t

It’s not on purpose, it just escapes me

My own memory betrays me

And one day, I’m afraid

Alzheimer’s and I’ll forget

Everything, everyone

And all my memories

I will never remember
